Food Day a Success!

Earlier this week on Monday we celebrated the first annual Food Day with our friends at Rio Salado College in Tempe. The event was put on by Rio's sustainable food systems headed by Chef Michael Hodgins. The sustainable food systems program also has an awesome garden. The garden is a mere sliver on the edge of a parking lot, it is an outstanding example of what thoughtful farming techniques can accomplish even in a small area. Rio Salado Farmer Josh Sundberg who is responsible for a lot of the garden you see today has been through our farm tour in Chandler and even has a small barrel Aquaponics system going in Rio's Garden.
The event itself featured a hand full of high quality local food companies and advocates. There were also some great cooking demos. The Cafe @ Rio featured a handful of special dishes for Food Day featuring food from local sources. We had a great time and had the opportunity to speak to many interested people. Thanks to Rio Salado College for having us we really appreciated it!
Below is a video of our own Mark Rhine giving a short talk on Aquaponics and Rhibafarms in general at the Food Day event.
