Sunflower Shoots

Sometimes when people visit our booth at the Phoenix Downtown Public Market, they show a lot of interest in microgreens but shy away from them because they don't know how to use them or even what they really are. To help remedy the problem we have decided to showcase some products to help inform you and maybe inspire a new favorite meal.

First up is sunflower shoots. Yep, it's the same big yellow flower that produces the perfect road-trip snack. The only difference is that ours are just baby plants at only a couple weeks old.

These little greens have a rich nutty flavor that is reminiscent of the sunflower seed. They are great in salads, sandwiches and stir-frys. All you juicers out there can add them to your green juices for a nice flavor punch-up. Heck we enjoy just snacking on them raw all by themselves.

Sunflower shoots are a good course of Linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid. They also contain vitamin E, amino acids, and minerals including magnesium, potassium, zinc, and calcium. They can have a beneficial impact on our state of mind and lessen the chance of depression.

Come on out to the Phoenix Downtown Public Market or drop on by the farm to pick some up. If you buy our awesome salad mix, then you can also find them in there. Try them out and let us know what you think. We would even love it if you share your favorite recipes.
