World Water Day

World Water Day is approaching and this year the focus is on the food security side of water conservation. Water and food is what Rhibafarms is all about. One of the major components to making good food is good water. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is trying to educate people on just how much water it takes to produce the foods we eat and how we all can decrease our water footprint. Check out this short video below that illustrates the amount of water that goes into various foods.
Our commercial aquaponics system is a stellar example of how to grow with as little water as possible while still providing the plants with nutrient rich water. The system recirculates water and is mostly covered, this means that most of the water that leaves the system is actual water aspirated by the plants. In other words, our aquaponics system is tremendously efficient because we don't have to deal with evaporation or run-off of unused water.
As an un-offical World Water Day event Rhibafarms will be hosting a special "water day edition" tour. The tour will coincide with World Water Day on March 22nd. You will get to be up close and personal with our aquaponics systems on this informative tour lead by our very own Mark Rhine. The tour is open to the public, but you must sign up in advance by emailing info@rhibafarms.com or by calling 480-632-0272. Hope to see you there!
